GET PANAMA
The Get Panama Story: Discovering the Real Panama
In 2015, in the vibrant city of Panama, Eduardo Sánchez decided to take charge of his destiny and bring to life a dream that had been brewing since his college days. Eduardo, a young man passionate about geography, ecology, and the cultural richness of his country, had graduated with a degree in Inbound Geographical Ecological Tourism from the University of Panama. It was there, amid books and fieldwork, that he began to envision a different future, one in which he could show the world the authentic essence of the Panama he loved so much.
Before embarking on his entrepreneurial journey, Eduardo worked in an office at the age of 25. Although the job was stable, he felt something was missing. The routine and the confinement of four walls made him dream of a bigger purpose. He watched his friends and acquaintances progress on their own paths and reflected on what he truly wanted for his life. The answer came at a decisive moment: during a trip to Coiba Island National Park.
The trip, far from perfect, was full of challenges and setbacks. However, the experience was eye-opening. Eduardo realized that tourists and Panamanians themselves lacked access to a well-organized and authentic experience that would show them the real Panama. Shortly after, while completing his internship at the Panama Tourism Authority, he confirmed that there was great potential in inbound tourism, especially for those seeking something more than just the superficial.
With these clear ideas in mind, Eduardo founded his first company in 2014, Geoecotur, a name inspired by the acronym of his university degree. Geoecotur sought to combine geography, ecology, and tourism to offer unique and enriching experiences. However, like any venture, the first few years were a constant learning curve. Eduardo understood that he needed to evolve to adapt to the changing needs of travelers and the tourism market.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world hard, and the tourism sector was no exception. But Eduardo saw the crisis as an opportunity to reinvent himself. It was then, in 2021, that Geoecotur gave way to Get Panama, a new version of his initial dream. With a renewed focus, Get Panama was born to show travelers "the real Panama," an experience that combines culture, nature, and authenticity.
Today, Get Panama is an inbound tour operator recognized for its commitment to excellence and passion for sustainable tourism. The company offers activities ranging from visits to the historic sites of the Old Town and the Panama Canal to jungle adventures and cultural encounters with indigenous communities. Eduardo and his team work tirelessly to ensure that every traveler discovers the richness and diversity of Panama, creating unforgettable memories.
The story of Get Panama is, at its core, a story of vision, passion, and resilience. It reflects how a dream can transform into a reality that impacts not only the creator but also all those privileged to discover the real Panama through their eyes.
